What about Jesus?

  • Whenever Veteran’s Day and Memorial Day roll around, I have mixed emotions…
  • Whenever we as a nation roll out the red carpet for Veterans, I’m often times filled with questions and mixed emotions…

Why so?

Because when I hear all the commentary of people serving and sacrificing, I cannot help but think about my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! I often times wonder how God feels when we honor men and women for their service to this country the way that we do, but really live with no regard for Jesus!

Let me be very transparent, my dad served in the military, and I’ve had other family members and close friends who’ve served, but I get really torn when we go all out honoring men and women, who have served this country, and some to their death. Look at the flag issue of today, and look at how people are in an uproar and some even angry. Look at how people are quick to snatch their support and even stage boycotts because of what’s deemed as a lack of respect for Veterans.

Well, what about Jesus, who was crucified and died for ALL of us?

Well, what about Jesus, who was hung on an old rugged cross for ALL of us?

Well, what about Jesus, who sacrificed His life and shed His blood for ALL of us?

Well, what about Jesus? Where’s His honor? When do we stand up for Him? When do we refuse to do business with people who don’t honor Him? When do we stand up for God and His word?

Now when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. 34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” 35 Some of those who stood by, when they heard that, said, “Look, He is calling for Elijah!” 36 Then someone ran and filled a sponge full of sour wine, put it on a reed, and offered it to Him to drink, saying, “Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to take Him down.” 37 And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last…Mark 15:33-37

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved…John 3:16-17

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed…..Isaiah 53:5
